My thoughts on Cyber-Bullying
Cyberbullying -- a "word"epidemic...
Initial thoughts it is that Cyberbullying is an epidemic
that is spreading across our country, schools and affecting our children and
increasing at a rate that is probably unfathomable. I have read many articles about the horrific
actions that children have taken to combat this bullying. Adults and parents who think they have
influence on what their own children believe about themselves, soon realize that
it’s the posts and what others say about them that determines their worth and
little they can say or do to change that.
Laws have to be created or enforced to protect our children. Free speech is not an argument, but an excuse
for poor behavior. Those behind the
bullying would not get away with such treatment of individuals in front of a
school administration or should not.
Parents, adults, peers must monitor and report events or situations to
individuals that can help resolve the underlying issue. I do agree with the article in the book and believe
that cyberbullying affects all, it’s a debilitating and paralyzing event to the
mistreated child (person).
Stick and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me, the old rhyme that doesn't ring true. The right words have to the solution to the epidemic.
